The title : Mixing, Between Art and Science. Not yet finish, will continue January 2011. Between Art and Science pdf (released 0.4 at 12 Nov 2010) TQ,RP!
please do... it would be great to have a book on modern mixing techniques, especially when it comes to fundamentals like getting a good sound, mixing bass and drums, etc
Hello all, from France. Good idea Ronald. A tutorial about mixing is always useful. It is difficult to use EQ correctly during mix or mastering. I think that some lines about loudness war should be necessary to keep music pleasant for listeners, volume knob doesn't bite...Thank you for the free plugins. I wish you all the best.
greeaaatttt....!!! you have to publish it, man..you have to..haha i can't wait untill i get that book on my hands...especially if you made that book on indonesian version...haha do the best, man...!! you'll be the one of musician that people will tell the story about.. wish you all the best..
I'd really really love that kind of ebook. Specially if it's structured like theory-example-practice.
What I think other books lack is clear step by step examples. I know mixing is part art but think about this: how do you learn complex algebra? do you read a lot of theory on arithmetics, simple algebra, and simple analytic geometry and then proceed to demonstrate Cantor's theorems? Obviously not!
Although many are against this idea, I think that some newbies (like me) would benefit a lot from step by step examples. I think that with that kind of practice, we might feel more confident on taking it to the next step and start mixing artistically and not mechanically.
Maybe do a chapter on VST amp simulation and how to optimize the sound with that technique in mind?
Thank you for doing this and for releasing free plugins! You, sir, are awesome! [Although, you'd be even more awesome if you release your book under Creative Commons (just sayin')]
I agree completely with clueless up there, bro Ronald...
Please do make a step-by-step practical implementation of mastering, with real-life examples...
even better, if the examples uses free VSTs for us 'poor (but brilliant) musicians' out here.
Many books either uses way too high theoretical mumbo-jumbo jargons or uses high paying VSTs we could only dream to afford,.... if not for 'warezed' versions, we would never ever get the chance to even try them...
but still,...many of us really want to just use great FREE VSTs you know, to avoid 'guilt' and inspection over piracy...heheh.
Salaam bro...May God be pleased with your contribution to all. :)
(continued from above)..and I am more than willing to support you with editorials; English as well as Indonesian, should you might want/need help. pls contact me at: arf.rico@mail.com
Hello Ronald, From France, again... I'm happy to read your mixing tutorial ebook. I was waiting for it impatiently. I learned much on the difference between passive and active EQ...Many thanks for that. For the moment, i find this ebook really useful. Good job. But, as you say: to be continued...So, i wish you much tenacity to finish it. I hope that your laptop won't crash again. Threaten it with a weapon... Believe me, i really appreciate your generosity and kindness...Sébastien...
